Mia's First Year

Jenn and I have a baby girl! Her name is Mia Magdalena Umali, and she was born Wednesday, March 28, 2001. This is our first baby. And this blog will be a daily record of my thoughts during her first year growing up with us.

This page only shows one week's entries. To see older entries, access the archives.

I also have plenty of pictures of Mia.

Rick's Ramblings BLOG is still being updated.

Once again, I couldn't get Mia to sleep. Once again, Jenn helped.

This morning, while in the driveway, the door on my car sprung closed, hitting Mia just a little bit. Enough to make her wail into the neighborhood. She wasn't hit too badly, and she stopped crying quickly. At day care, Jenn noticed Mia's head being a little redder, but by the time we got home in the afternoon, she was quite fine.

I had a hard time getting Mia to sleep (nearly two hours ago). Jenn helped me.

We tried weighing her tonight. She's now about thirteen pounds.

Our next-door neighbor announced to us that her baby got into the same day care place that we use. Terrific news. Their baby is almost six months older, and the differences between the two are great now. But when they're both in school, the six month difference won't seem like a lot now. (Of course, I can't think that far ahead.)

We put Mia to bed last night around 7:30PM. She's still asleep (nearly eleven hours later)!

Mia holds her head up pretty well now. Whenever we put her on her back, she rolls to her left, onto her stomach, and then lifts her big ol' head up. After maybe a minute or two, she gets tired of this, and puts her head down and/or starts crying.

Mia was a complete angel today, compared with yesterday. She ate well. She didn't fuss or cry too much. She played by herself fairly well. What a difference a day makes.
