Mia's First Year

Jenn and I have a baby girl! Her name is Mia Magdalena Umali, and she was born Wednesday, March 28, 2001. This is our first baby. And this blog will be a daily record of my thoughts during her first year growing up with us.

This page only shows one week's entries. To see older entries, access the archives.

I also have plenty of pictures of Mia.

Rick's Ramblings BLOG is still being updated.

Mia had her birthday party today. It was crazy! My uncle and cousin brought their children (three each!) and Mia's play room was in full swing. Unfortunately, Mia came down hard with a heavy fever (she broke 105). With a lot of people helping, and some Tylenol, Mia started to feel better by the later part of the evening (after most everyone had left).

An exhausting day!

Mia woke up this morning with a fever. 101.5 degrees. Just enough to keep her out of day care. We just gave her some Tylenol. Her birthday party is tomorrow. Up to forty people are coming. Yikes!

We are in the process of trying to wean Mia off the bottle. Jenn's been reading up on various approaches to this. I only get to see the morning and evening experiments. We'll start this in earnest after her party this weekend.

Mia went to the doctor's today. She received four shots. She was given a clean bill of health, despite her crying fit during the visit.

She's developed somewhat of a mild, reddish rash on her right cheek, and on her tiny chin. The doctor gave us Aquaphor. We'll see how this works.

I will be writing up to and including Mia's first birthday party (which is the weekend of April 6).

Lately, she's been putting her head into one of her toy containers, and makes funny sounds. We think she likes hearing her voice produce a strange echo from inside the container.
